Japan: Harry Café now welcomes chinchillas and otters

In Tokyo, the Harry Café hedgehog bar is diversifying and now offers to welcome baby otters and chinchillas.

Tokyo residents love to go to the Harry Café to meet and play with the hedgehogs who take over the place. Recently, this unique establishment also allows chinchillas and otter babies to pass through its doors. The cafe has set up areas in which these animals can move freely. They drink water, feed or play with adapted toys. There are also quieter areas where customers can enjoy their company.

The Harry Café promotes contact between customers and animals. Those who go there can pet them and even have fun with them. On the other hand, they must know and respect their desires as they differ from one species to another. Indeed, some hedgehogs love visitors’ caresses while others do not want to be touched. Otters play better with toys while chinchillas will prefer to be pampered. Needless to say, it is a real menagerie. Nevertheless, beyond the shared moments, Harry Café guests must remember that animals also need their quiet time and not disturb them all day long. When will we have the same thing at home?
